Chartering Manager

Job Responsibilities

  • Manage and administer procurement of cargoes and contracts for our existing fleet, as well as developing value-added cargoes, contracts, and chartered vessels for operating and arbitrage
  • Execute on the desk/customer game plan in the spot market boldly and timely while always complying with the firm’s vessel vetting policy and gathering market insights from brokers
  • Build strong customer relationships (for target customers and strategic routes)
  • Build/maintain relationships with internal stakeholders including admin/vessel ops/accounting/commodity trading
  • Undertake freight market S&D analysis to assist in market reading helping to anticipate market moves and maximize opportunities
  • Selection of profitable offers and their comparisons
  • Conducting freight negotiations and conclusion of contracts
  • Expand Caravel’s profile within the shipping marketplace

Education / experience / technical skills required:

  • Educated to degree level (MICS would be desirable but not imperative)
  • Min. 3 years practical experience in dry bulk supramax/ultramax chartering
  • Highly organized with strong customer orientation
  • Strong communication and team-working skills
  • Possess strong interpersonal skills and commitment to teamwork
  • Must be detailed oriented and very organized in work
