The Chief Officer will be responsible for his own area of the day to day running of this innovative Wind Installation Vessel and its crew. When vessel is in operation, the vessel’s operations consist of the installation of bottom-fixed offshore wind turbines at a windfarm, while tugs and barges ferry the turbine components out to the installation site.
As Deputy of the Master, the Chief officer will report and support the Master in all relevant duties including operating the locking system that engages to stabilise lock in and release off the barge from the Wind Installation Vessel, as well as the entire deck operation focusing on safe and efficient installation of wind turbine generators.
The Chief Officer is also responsible to plan, calculate and verify vessel stability, in conjunction with the Master. Conduct jacking operations, crane operations, Bridge and DP watches. Lead and motivate crew members during deck operations. Plan and supervise maintenance outside the machinery spaces.
As ships Security Officer, the Chief Officer is responsible to maintain the Ships Security Plan and Conduct Safety Officer’s duties, unless this task is specifically assigned to another Officer.
