Corporate Maintenance Engineer - Port Services

Job Responsibilities

Based at our Head Office in Dubai and reporting to the Corporate Technical Manager – Port Services, the Corporate Maintenance Engineer (CME) – Port Services is responsible for overseeing all matters related to PMS software (NSE) and any others ERP (enterprise resource planning) software technical systems’ implementations across the Division including acting as a focal point with other users in the group ERP systems and responsible for handling relevant process data. Under the guidance of Technical Manager, CME may be assigned for Divisional Technical Projects and Dry Dockings and to coordinate major repairs as required. The position will liaise with the Divisional Technical & Operations Manager, Corporate Technical Superintendent, Corporate Senior Coordinator, IT department as required.

Whilst this role is based at P&O Maritime Logistics Corporate office in Dubai the role could involve worldwide travel, which may be required at short notice, and may involve extended periods (possibly even up to or more than 3-6 months) overseas.

Key Accountabilities

Maintenance
 

  • Participate in developing and implementing Divisional procedures for maintenance
  • Provide support and guidance to technical teams in the Divisional Business Units
  • To oversee divisional PMS software records on a regular basis and to support BUs with implementation and DCR process at the corporate level

Divisional Technical Projects
 

  • Implementing minimum technical projects procedures and providing advice and support to Division Technical Manager, Business Unit Heads, BU Technical Managers and Superintendents
  • Review and recommend for approve technical projects documentation

HSSEQ
 

  • Advice to the Group HSSEQ on BU HSSEQ Compliance during BU visits
  • Maintain awareness of and promote compliance with HSSEQ Policies and procedures

Others
 

  • Whilst this role is based at P&O Maritime’s Corporate office in Dubai the role will involve worldwide travel, which may be required at short notice, and may involve some extended periods overseas


  •  
Skills
  • Class 1 or 2 Marine Engineer COC with relevant sea-going and shore experience (appropriate Course qualifications, time as Class / H&M Surveyor or Ship Repair Manager)
  • Previous experience as a Technical Superintendent or Port Engineer for a minimum of 5 years is essential
  • Previous experience on commercial vessels over 500 GRT is essential – ideally harbour tugs, AHTS and offshore vessels but deep sea will also be considered due to the broader approach of the Division
  • Proficient knowledge of Maintenance principles of ships, systems and equipment onboard
  • Practical in-depth knowledge of PMS/ERP software used in marine industries. Knowledge of ABS NS is preferred
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Word and Outlook is essential Knowledge in other MS Office package such as Power Point and Project would be an advantage
  • Knowledge of ISPS, ISM, Flag State and Classifications Society procedures and regulations
  • People management skills preferably gained from working in a multicultural environment
  • Proven track record in intermediate and special dry dockings, ship repair, mobilizations, new build projects and in-water repairs
  • Strong Commercial awareness and ability to interact with and satisfy client requirements
  • Basic principles of budget planning and routine budget reporting processes
  • Ability to travel at short notice to augment other company activities and provide coverage as required
  • Business/management qualifications would be an advantage
