The 65,594 dwt Senshu Maru has been sent for recycling having been reported sold for scrap late last year.

In a LinkedIn post MOL said the Senshu Maru sailed nearly 2m nautical miles, or over 92 times round the planet, in its 37-year lifetime. The vessel completed 733 voyages for MOL transporting 9m tons of LNG

“We sincerely appreciated our oldest lady who completed so many operations safely and we will continue stable energy transportation as the world leader in safety,” MOL said.

At the same time on 25 January MOL welcomed the newest LNG carrier to its fleet the 180,000 cu m LNG Rosenrot, built at Daewoo Shipbuilding & Marine Engineering (DSME) equipped with X-DF propulsion.
